I DO NOT SUPPORT MIXED BREEDING
There is no such thing as a "labradoodle, goldendoodle, etc"--- these are mixed breeds, otherwise known as mutts.
If you want one, save yourself a lot of money, and save an abandoned dog by going to an Animal Shelter and rescuing one from there!!! sadly enough, you might find many a "-doodle" there, where they've been left because they didn't come up to the expectations people had with respect to attributes ( e.g. shedding, allergies) OR because of serious, and costly, health problems that occur when people breed dogs without knowledge of pedigrees or health testing.
These mixes do not "get the best of both breeds" in one or two generations. This can take many generations of selective breeding to focus on specific attributes which is the process that produces a PUREBRED DOG over time.
Their health problems are worse because, rarely is there any research of Pedigrees or Health Testing, or even the REALIZATION that there are genetic health issues to be managed (i.e. avoided).
They are not hypo-allergenic, and because most people expect them to be, most of these dogs are ending up in shelters!!!
People are paying a ridiculous price for what is a mixed breed, and is found by the oodles in the shelters!!! Most people say they are looking for a non-shedding dog that has a wonderful temperament and is good with a family --- Well, that IS a standard poodle -- you do not have to mix it with any other breed to get those attributes; and, in fact, if you do, you then have no idea what you might get. You can get a shedding dog with a lab temperament that looks neither like a lab nor a poodle. Who wins with that? I've worked hard as a breeder to ensure that my puppies have the correct standard poodle attributes. People ask to breed to my stud dogs in the hopes that they get nice dogs that they can sell and make money on, and be able to state that the puppies were sired by a Champion, but I will not allow breeding of my Champions to other breeds.
So, DO NOT CALL either to breed to my dogs or to find a mutt!!! I breed Purebred, AKC Registered Standard Poodles only. |
